Emphasis on the User Experience
My main focus of developing web sites is to make finding information as easy as possible but still maintain good design principles – mainly keeping all relevant content ‘above the fold’, while enticing the user to click through to the rest of the site. The goal is to grab a viewers attention and not make them work too hard to get to the information they came to the website to find. There are tons of bells and whistles out there! While it’s tempting to inundate a website with today’s ‘bells and whistles’, I find a clean, concise easy to navigate site works the best – and I strive to find a happy medium between design aesthetics and a successful, end-user experience.
Tools of the Trade for Web Development and User Interface Design
I am experienced with Adobe software, most specifically, Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Illustrator. I use Photoshop for the site mockup phase and client presentations. Photoshop makes it quick and easy to create a ‘pseudo’ site along with animation and drop down phases. I use Illustrator for logo creation and vector art, and Dreamweaver for HTML editing, again to create quick and easy ‘pseudo’ site for presentations.
